Who's Cuisine Reigns Supreme

Thank you, Emeril for the broccoli and gruyere cheese soup. Here's the recipe for all you wanna-be great cooks out there:

3 tablespoons olive oil 1 cup onions, chopped
½ cup carrots, cut into rounds
½ cup celery, chopped
Salt
Cayenne pepper
3 cups broccoli florets 2 quarts water
Freshly ground black pepper
1 cup heavy cream
2 cups Gruyere cheese, grated
Creole seasoning (Essence), recipe follows

Directions:
In a large saucepan, over medium heat, heat the olive oil. When the oil is hot, add the onions, carrots and celery. Season with salt and cayenne pepper. Saute for 5 minutes, or until they begin to soften. Add broccoli and saute for 3 minutes. Add water and season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Bring the soup to a boil, reduce heat and cover. Simmer for 30 minutes, or until vegetables are tender. Remove the cover, add the cream, and simmer 10 minutes. With a hand-held blender, puree the soup. Add 1½ cups of the gruyere cheese. Stir until the cheese is melted. Check for seasoning. Ladle the soup into bowls and garnish with a little of the remaining Gruyere cheese and Creole seasoning. Serve with crusty bread -- not in a cheater bread bowl!

That's my favorite show on the Food channel. Mom says the rules for the family throwdown are it has to be something that can be eaten with a spoon. That was Aunt Carrie's rule. I thought and thought.What could I, a mere child of 8, enter in a throwdown. My pesky split pea soup? Hmmm ... Aunt Carrie won't eat it. I'll lose votes there. What should I enter?

School Book Fair

I went to the school book fair today and got this book:

Aunt Carrie, you might like this book. It's about a dog. I think Marley is a golden retriever or maybe a lab. I don't know. So far I've read about Marley breaking a lamp. Well actually, the kids and dog broke the lamp. One threw the ball, Marley catched it and hit the lamp with the ball. Marley's a he. It's a chapter book and I'm on the chapter called Marley girl. I looked at the pictures and know that Marley dies. That will make Aunt Carrie sad.

I also got a pen. Well, it's really a marker. I think I'm good.

Lucky Day

First Fish Ever

Last year in Cadillac, I spend a few (several) hours trying to catch a fish and never did. So when I went camping on Saturday and I caught a fish, I was happy. Da ta ta da ...

My first fish.

I caught a total of 7 fish Saturday. Jaden caught four. One of Jaden's got loose in the bottom of the boat and touched my foot. Red was showing, but mommy said it wasn't blood. I'm not so sure. Seriously. There was a big lump of it on my foot. Ruined the trip for me.

Eggplant Parmasean

Today you all probably know this we made Eggplant Parmasean. I'm the one that did the breading and the egg part. I had to dip it in egg yolk--which felt wierd. Then you dip in bread--which were crumbly. What are you having for dinner? The timer just went off, I'm about to have it for the first time. Here's to good eats for you too!

9th Annual Burn Out

Boom! this one blew a tire on Firday night. Yagh we went to a Burn Out . Mom says there were about 30 or 40 cars. The first car blew out lots of smoke. But the won was probly the one in the picture.

Look What We Did

Hey look what we did. We planted tomatoes in our garden. It was fun digging in our garden. But I kind of got dirty. Some of these tomato plant names sound a little wierd. Like big boy and other names. So if you have a garden you have fun with it too. oh and I took this picture.

My Summer Plans

My summer plans are I want to go to the zoo in Pitsberge (Pittsburgh). Do they have a zoo in Pitsberge. The next place I want to go is Coleman. Wait I all ready live there. I'm really look ing forward to seeing my best friend Emma. One more thing I went to the library and signed up for a program. What are your plans

Last Day of School
